States that produce alot of corn tend to have more gas with the ethanol mix. POLITICS and EPA

Seems like I read somewhere that a Harley is designed to run up to 20% ethanol

 

here in idaho it is becoming very common to find 10%e everywhere the good thing is AAA is compiling a list of stations that do not use it for guys like us that dont want to use it.

 

Have not noticed it in awhile, but it seems that here in Vegas its only 10% ethanol in cooler months. I want to say Oct-March? I have seen something about oxygenated also.

 

In northwest Mississippi there were no stations with ethanol a year ago. Now I cannot find a station that does NOT have 10% ethanol.

I can't say that I have noticed a seat of the pants performance difference with the 10% ethanol, HOWEVER, I am now getting about 5 MPG less.

 

Haven't found any stations here in Florida without ethanol. Have noticed approx 4 mpg drop

 

Have not noticed any here in Maine,too focused on the price.

 

In Illinois, that is all we can get and have had that for more than 10 years. It has little to do with power, it just drops the MPG. It won't hurt the bike or cars at all. Now, do NOT try e85, that will cause all sorts of problems in your bike or car isn't made for that. 85% ethanol is very corrosive and you need special equipment to run e85.

 

I've been working on a project for my companies retail fuel stations and the pros for ethanol is that it is a higher octane (so if premium is required, you can run mid-grade and be safe). It adds about 1-3 points of octane. The downside is that is doesn't burn as clean which decreases your mileage a small amount. Not bad, but knowing the facts helps...
