Default 07 Heat Problem

Sold my 98 Classic. Never had any heat issues until I bought my 07 Ultra. Way to hot for my wife. Tolerable on a cool day. I have taken off my lower fairings and the wind deflectors off of the fairings. No real help. So it looks like from what I read there may be 2 solutions? New set of pipes and some kind of deflectors?

Default My experience

07 Ultra...once the bike is completely warmed up and I get in stop and go city traffic the heat is an issue. It seems to me the lower fairings do not let the air pass through and push the hot air away. I removed the lowers and it is "much" better. May put them back on for the winter.

The 09 comes with mid frame heat sheilds, just thinking you might want to check the lower vents and make sure they are open. I plan an oil cooler D&D pipes, doherty a/c and the Super tuner. Also going to make the lowers detachable. Read somewhere that the lowers make the motor run 50 - 75 degrees hotter.

The lowers will actually help keep it cooler since you have the vents which direct the air over the cylinders when you have them open.

How many miles on the motor? Mine was quite hot until about 300 miles, and cooled down further each hundred miles after that up to about 1200, at which point it was dyno tuned and cooled down further.

My 09 Ultra now has 1,000 miles. Went for a long ride yesterday in 92 degree heat. Heat is not as bad as my 06. I did have the HD stage 1 download done and that did help a little. The heat on this bike should not be a deal breaker for you. There are things that you can do to cool it down but will effect MPG. I ride mine to work everyday and want the milage. I will stay with stage 1 for now. Bike runs very strong now and milage is up there.

Try the fork baffle that goes under lower tree on frt forks. This simple fairing will redirect the air flow traveling between the frame rails and takes only minutes to install. The 09 guys will probably have to wait until the aftermarket catches up,the XIEDS might be a temp remedy.
