No bling this time

I hear ya Q Hog... On my last bike a 99 fatboy I threw the parts catalog at it, spend a fortune and it turned a lot of heads. Was it worth it? It seemed like it was at the time.
But now looking back at it my real joy came from the pieces that made the bike perform better, handle better and be more reliable.
For you guys that are after the bling I think that's great, but for now it's not for me.
The guys on this forum that have spent the time to black out their rides to me look a lot better than all the cookie cutter chrome that everyone has out of the H.D. wish book.
Again, not putting anyone down for what-ever they want to do with their rides. This is just were I am at.

harley-jones, I'm pretty much with you. In the 4 years I've had my EG I haven't put a single thing on it that could be considered bling. Don't care either. I bought it to ride and tour with, and it's been awesome.
I recently spent a bit of dough to make it more like I'd like it to look though - that meant buying a set of stock saddlebag lids, as mine came with lid rails already installed. Never cared for them. And a TP quick disconnect kit, yet to be installed.
What I did spend some $$ on:
95", HQ cams and ignition, SE AC and slip ons, 8" shield, adjustable rider backrest (about to be for sale, because I just bought...) a Russell Day Long saddle. Spent some more $$ on really good quality riding gear. It's worked out great - great fun bike to ride, be comfortable while riding.

I have a way that works pretty good for me. I stay away from the high dollar bling like fork chrome and primary chrome. Mostly I stay with things that dress up from a distance. If you got to get close to see it, it less chance I will buy it. New 09 Ultra to be shipped 09/24 and I will buy fender skirt, headlight-psg light-trn sig trim, lugg rk, gage trim, psg ft bd trim, rdr bk rest(a must) chome for tour pk, speaker trim, I know I'm probably missing something but with 20% disc from dealer because I bought the bike and my own labor to install, this stuff ususlly costs me less than $700. Then of course pipes, AC,PCIII but I don't consider them options, they are necessities. Oh yea grips and my kury psg pegs and kury dvr hwy pegs but moving the pegs from old bike no cost.
