but it will get you laid
no, i agree with you. i have spent very little on chrome accessories for my ride. i think it came stock with plenty! i've put just a couple on: used a sportster brake caliper from the clearance table for a dipstick cover, put a new dashcover (leather) on. other than that, i did a few functional add ons, they happened to be chrome, but i didn't buy them for that reason. plus, i would have rathered they be black (and therefor cheaper).....

HD isn't dumb--just look at the catalog for all of the "blacked out" accessories offered the past couple of years.
As for chrome, I make my bike the way I want it and figure others do the same. My IMPRESSION is that guys on HDF do way more to their bikes than the HOG members at my chapter or the customer bikes I see at my dealership--I doubt that they've spent more than a $1,000 on their bike's accessories (excluding mufflers), and prefer to keep their bikes essentially stock. And there is nothing wrong with that; but, most don't work on their bikes--HDF members are, IMO, atypical HD owners.

I like bling that is tastefully done , which is in truth a matter personal opinion anyway. I don't play golf, boat or any of that stuff, so if I buy Harley clothing, boots and stuff that I identify with as a rider I don't have to justify the expense. In Sturgis this year I saw lots of stuff that was cool at the vendors and me picking a few things I liked was really a lot of fun. That's what is cool about this hobby, you can do what "trips your trap" with your ride and usually no one says anything unless it's a compliment.
Ride on Bro, stock is cool too!!
