Default Replacing the brake lever on an 08 Ultra

So I bought new chrome hand levers, and looked at the instructions and it calls for bleeding the front brakes. Didn't have to do that when I put new levers on my 07 Street Bob. Anyone have experience with this that can offer some insight?

Don't believe you have to. Should just require a 42859-06B pin and retaining ring kit and swap the lever out.

That's what I thought. Last night at about 10pm I look at the directions thinking it would be a quick job and said screw it and went to bed!

Syracuse,
If you want to sell your take-off levers, I would be interested. PM me.

Did anyone find an easier way to do this without draining the brake fluid? Can't believe we have to go through this much work just to change out the levers!

There is no need to bleed the brakes. As DAWG stated pull the retaining ring off the pin, slip the pin out, pull lever off, slide chrome lever in, put pin back in and attach the retaining ring. There is nothing more to do !! Trust me I did it on mine.

Yep. Had to do it a couple of times. Seems like when I tip over it's always on the right side!

Sorry to hear that but I think we've all been there, done that!

Ok ... just finished with both the brake and clutch lever. No issues. I did have to loosen the housing that held the brake reservoir in place to completely remove the brake lever.

Thanks for help all ... Merry Christmas and have a great New Years!

No need as everyone else has said. I believe the directions are for replacing the master cylinder and the lever. Dont know why maybe to save paper or something.
