Yeah he is all wet. Cruise will compensate for hills, throttle lock will not. It takes more throttle to go up a hill at a given speend and less to go down.

I have an 08 EGS with cruise. No charge install by the dealer because I bought the bike with it and ABS and the cruise unit came in later. Dealer installed at the 1,000 mile service. Don't use mine that much(have not been on many long rides)but when I do it works perfectly. Pretty flat where I live so don't have many hills except for highway overpasses. It throttles up to hold the speed over those and down on the backside.

My cruise never varied by mor then 1 mph according to my gps the whole length of the NJ turnpike. Even on the hilly part of CT it stayed really close to that. 860 miles in two days....gotta love cruise!!

Mine works fine on the slab, but you can't use it much on the rest of the roads around here. Too crooked.

well, labor day traffic was pretty heavy coming out of the Blue Ridge Parkway and heading towards the beach, so maybe we were both fiddling with it too much in traffic. wasn't any riding with just me & him clear of traffic.

we may run to Myrtle beach this weekend, try again in less traffic.
