Default Vance & Hines slip-ons. Louder with time?

Just picked up my new '09 Street Glide. Did the stage 1 with Vance & Hines basic slash cut slip-ons. I'm not too happy with sound right off the bat. Does anybody know if they will get louder or deeper with time? I've heard and read something about a fiberglass packing needing to burn off? Any opinions or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Over time the packing will burn off and the exhaust will become louder and probably more tinny sounding too. The packing is what makes the exhaust note deep and rumbly, when that packing burns off and blows out the muffers will get louder........most people rewrap the baffles for that good sound again.

Default Re wrap

there are two torx screws on the bottom of the muffler that hold the baffel in, remove them and pull the baffel out..

you can buy the insulation from V/H for about $8.00 a side or got o your local wood stove shop and get some there...if available...

They will get louder but not necessarily sound "lower". I have V&H classic slip-ons and I just repacked them at 40K miles. The fiberglass was completely gone and the pipes got really loud and I lost some low end torque.
