Same thing happened to me Friday. The neg cable seemed loose as I could wiggle it a bit, but I tighten the bolt. Tried to loosen it to clean connections and bolt broke in half. Turns out the bolt had loosened a bit over time creating small arcs that welded the bolt to the inside of the battery terminal. Tried drilling out broken bolt, but wound up having to buy new battery. Dealer couldn't warranty it since it wasn't a manufacturing defect (only 1/2 yrs old), but manager gave me 25% off new one.

Check the ground from the batt. to the engine block under the starter.Mine came loose its a real pain to tighten it up but it can be done.

+1. Take a Voltimeter to it, and see what it's reading.

Same thing happened to me leaving a bar on my Chopper this weekend. Some jerk friend of mine pulled the ground wire from my starter. Good thing the place was on a hill and I was able to roll start it. I need to go back to a kicker on that bike, somethings should never have been changed.

Good luck with your bike. Check every connection point.

Try a jump from your car or truck. If it starts, probably a bad battery.
