Downunder - check my post further up in this thread. You'll only lose cruise if you order cables not made for cruise. The only difference being the throttle cable, by the neck of your bike, has a a couple contacts (Roll off sensor) for a plug so that your bike knows to turn off the cruise when you roll the throttle.

DSLWraith - No one can answer your last question without knowing what bars you're getting, and they had put on pretty much the same ones. But, even then, just contact the manufacturer (as I suggested in my original post if you get Wild 1) and get their suggestion.

i checked with wild one this is what they said:

Brandon,
As far as the wires go, I would add 12-15". You may want to go
taller in the future and it will already be done.
The cables are as follows: +6" on clutch cable and +8" on the brake,
throttle & idle cables.

You are whats make sites like this so worthwhile. Thanks so much for the doco you put up about the bar change, it is exactly what I am after/was needing and it is so relevant to me because it is based upon the exact same bike as mine.

where did you get all your cables from? I have to factor shipping to aus as well

Your help and knowledge will save me up to $500 or so, money I can spend elsewhere ... so again thankyou

Yeh, it saved me about $700 in Labor at an Indi shop. Who knows what it wouldv'e been at an HD shop!

I got Magnum cables www.magnumshielding.com . All my stuff came from www.mandmcycles.com . But, as I mention in the last page of the "How-to", another contender is http://www.warehousedirec.com/ , particularly for you since they don't charge shipping (well, at least in US).

Like I said in my write-up: M&M charged shipping, but their prices were lower to begin with than Warehouse Direc so it pretty much evened out. Shipping to AUS may be a whole 'nuther story . . .
