Closest Brush With Fame

So I'm riding through LA and am sitting at a red light outside of Beverly Hills. Next to me pulls up an old black Caddy convertible from the '50s. It's all covered with dust like it had been sitting in a warehouse for decades. It looked like a mobsters car. The top is down and one the most famous of all Hollywood "mobsters", Robert DeNiro is behind the wheel. I look at the Caddy and check it out and he looks at me and my bike and checks me out. Suddenly I say to him "Are you looking at me,....are you looking at me?" ......."I'm the only one standing here, are you looking at me?". He laughs, the light turns green and we ride off.
Then I'm coming out of a medical building in Santa Monica. I see and old man on a bench with what appears to be his teenage grand or great grand daughter next to him. He looks familiar and suddenly I realize it's Charleton Heston. I walk over and say, "Sir, I just want you to know I have always admired your movies,.....and regardless of how many Oscars 'Titanic' won, it can't hold up to one grain of sand on the wheel of your chariot". He sits up in the seat and says, "Young man, now days you just have to stand on the set with a clipboard and they give you that damn award". We go to shake hands and I pull mine back quickly and say, "Get yer filthy paws off me you damn dirty ape"..... Naw, I didn't say that. I would have been insulting Moses.
I went to Century City mall back when my son was about four. There is this large court yard area where kids can play next to the food court. My son was one of a bunch of kids there running around and he took to playing with one girl in particular, and the two of them were having a great time. I finished my drink and told him it was time to go. He and his new friend came and asked if his she could come over for a play date. I told both of them that the parents have to meet and arrange it. So this gal leads us over to a small corner of the food court to ask her daddy. It's Bruce Willis. We smile and I say, "Here's your daughter, c'mon son we have to go". She says "Daddy can I go to his house and play?", I said "Honey we live in another neighborhood, I don't know if we can. It's not easy". Bruce says "Maybe we'll see him again here next time". The kids say "Thank You" to each other, I say "Nice meeting you" to Bruce and he says "Nice meeting you too". Off we went and as usual my son has since forgotten the event, but I still remember it.
There have been others, but those are my favorite.

I was in the USAF at Dover and work part-time for the Monster Mile when it first opened. I should have got Petty, AJ, etc autograph but didn't. We use to pay them in cash and I was in the office but didn't want to bother them. I still remember Petty in 69 Ford Torino, the only year he left Chrysler products, passing everybody. I use to talked w Marv Fleming, First 4 time Superbowl ring holder, at Green Street Pub. Recently while at Buffalo Bill Museum, Chief Joseph Medicine Crow came in. He's the last living War Chief and fought in WWII. Got to shake his hand and another WWII Vet that came in.
