Default Touring with dog anyone?

Been wanting to take my dog with me on rides but unsure how to secure her on there. She's a 20lb Boston Terrier and I would love to have the companionship on rides. Does anyone tour with their dog? How do you secure them? How do they do?

I have seen them on trailers, and ones that ride on the tank unsecured, they both scare me.
They also make a pet carrier for the top of a tour pak.

We strap a dog carrier (silver one) on top of the tour pak and take our 8 lbs. long hair mini dachshund with us. He seems to love it. Bring plenty of water and plan on plenty of stops.

Hello 07RDGLD

I've got two Goldens... my male, Rufus, rides with me the most... Been hauling them for a couple of years now... Rufus went to Sturgis with me this year and we had a great time.

An acquaintance of mine here in Redding brought his dog over to the house last year to see how his dog would take to riding in the trailer... His dog, Buddy, did fine... So, he dad a trailer built....

I have a 200lb Newfoundlander! I can't even get him in the truck anymore let alone on my bike!

I have a 16 week old mini dachshund that I would like to take riding, but I've been kind of nervous about it. I put her in a backpack and wore it around on the front of me, but I only went about a mile and back. She did well, but it certainly wouldn't work very far. I've been tempted to put her in a pet carrier and strap her on my rack. What do you think? Should I go for it? Sure would be nice to have her along.

Wow! Nice trailer 2002 FLSTC!...Very well done! We also have a trailer..the one by "Wags" Our aussie, Ruthie, has been over 4000 miles in it and she loves it! We are taking off next Friday for a ride up the coast to Port Townsend, WA. It's been fun to take our dog with us. It's surprising how many hotels now allow dogs for a small fee of course.

There are quite a few carriers that will work for a small dog...here's a couple that I found while looking for a way to take our aussie with us...www.road-hound.com/

We have really enjoyed traveling with our dog and she loves it. She knows when we're going on the bikes and is always bummed when she doesn't go with us.

Pogo sits on a piece of carpeting mounted to the tank. Attached to the rider with a short leash.
