Heritagechic: I would get the 10'' bars. I have used 8.5'' bars on my 09 Road King and they were not much of an improvement. I still had to reach for the bars. I am taller than you but I think you may have the same problem. I believe the 8.5'' bars are close to the Heritage bars. I have also used the Heritage bars on my 09 and I really did not like the wrist angle. I now have 2600 miles on my 12.5'' Wild One Chubby bars and I really like them. No more back pain. Like you, I also have a low profile seat. Hope this helps to save you some time and money.

bikerlaw: What fishtails are you using? They look great. What rear turn signal lenses are those? They look old school.

New handlebars are a must. I've read a lot of posts about just using the stock Heritage bars. Husband says no - if we are replacing bars he wants nicer bars and internal wiring. So, I've been reading and researching and trying to figure out what I need. Leaning towards 10" mini-apes. Husband says I should consider 8.5" mini-apes. I've tried to find the "stock measurements" for the 2007 Heritage bars and have found various sources that show various measurements.(7" rise to 12" rise) Calling experts - what would you consider the closest to the Heritage Classic bars? 8.5", 10"? Or any other suggestions??
The Heritage got taller bars sometime around 07-09, not real sure when. BUT, one more thing to consider..... Just because you liked 07 bars on a heritage, doesn't mean you'll like them on a 13 RK...... Bar clamp is a little higher on RK (I think), seat may sit a little further back, etc. try to go to a rally, or a dealer with a bunch of used 09+ RKs, and see what you like.

My neighbor who I would guess is around 5'9" has Heritage bars on his 2011 RKC and yes they are an improvement over the stock bars, but he says they have a bad wrist angle for him. He's tried moved the angle of the bars forward and back, but is not overly happy with them.

FYI: I had the Road King "high bars" on my '03 before installing the ape hangers. They were ok, but I wanted to go higher.

+1 (another one) for Heritage Bars.
I'm 6'2" and they're perfect.

Thanks all! In my hours of brain-damaging research, I did also find out that they changed the Heritage bars starting with the 2009 model. So what I like is probably a little lower than what most people are referring to when they talk about "Heritage bars". I couldn't ever find the exact specs, but I know they were higher starting in 2009. Leaving for a trip next month to New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona - so don't have much time to shop around. I decided to go with the Wild 1's WO515 Chubby mini-apes (10"). We can get the internal wiring and I think they are going to be just about perfect. I want to try and add heated grips while making the switch....so, I'm off to start researching that. Appreciate the feedback from all of ya'll!

Hey, great taste in motorcycles we have!

They are just the cheap Debrix slip-ons. Hollow as the day is long. Since I am still running 100% stock with the catalytic converter still intact, the fishtails worked great. Great sound off idle, and cruising, but rap like a mother at wide open throttle. No popping on decal either. I was expecting silly loud at cruising speeds, but thats just not the case. Because of the converters, its truly the best of both worlds setup. IMHO.

The lenses are from an ebay seller called crazybikerusa. He sells a number of aftermarket lenses. I have used us stuff on every Harley I have had for years. Stand up guy.
