Anything is possible, was your buddys bike a noisey one? Those that have posted of having problems was around 30000 miles and the mainshaft was the problem,of course the shaft also contains that gear built into it.Most owners wont have the warrantys still intact by that mileage.Bakers kit stops alot of the movement going on in a stocker so maybe that has something to do with it. Might just be a fluke due to owners up keep.Post the results when problem found.

Well I tell you what fellows, has not been to the stealer yet, but he has fessed up to me that he uses the amsoil 20w50 motor oil in his tranny. now, as far as i know the tranny takes gear oil. I personaly use the amsoil 80/90 sever duty gear oil. and not to get in an oil battle here, but do you think that this actually had something to do with it? It just seems completely premature to wipe out a tranny so quick, but then again it is mechanical.

AMSOIL recommends using their 20/50 motorcycle product in all three holes of a Twin Cam HD:

I doubt your buddy's problem is the Amsoil 20/50.

My tranny developed a whine in sixth gear at 35K. It was still under the two year factory warranty. When they pulled the tranny drain plug they found a lot of metal sahvings. All new bearings, seals, output shaft, and assorted other clips and rings later, it's fine. The wrench said it's not unheard of, but not too common either. BTW the factory warranty is two years, unlimited mileage. Mine is still good at 40K.
