Default Hard saddlebag "clips"

Anyone know a trick to fixing the clips for attaching my hard bags on my FLHTC? The two clips that the cam screws go into from the inside of the bags? I got one that comes out almost everytime I take it for a ride and the cam screw will be sitting in the bottom of my bag.

Sounds like the spring might be broken or maybe you're not screwing it in all the way.

Funny - I wrote up a post (but lost it somehow?!?!) about how I just went and bought a new set of clips & pins (I think we're talking about the same things). Those clips are 4 bucks a piece and those pins are 8 bucks a piece! Cost me 50 bucks when I only thought I was gonna spend $10 - $15 - hehehehe...I shoulda known better...

ANY way - to get back to your question, where the clips mount is adjustable - so you may have to make a slight adjustment in order to get the right amount of tension. Or you may have forced the pin onto the clip too funky & widened out the tip too much. After shelling out $50 to replace all of those parts (the bike is 7 years old & they were beat up when I bought it) I know I'm going to be a bit nicer and gentler when I take the pins out & put'em back in

Check the spring behind the bracket, you may have to take the bracket off 7/16" wrench.
That spring is riveted on the bracket. You can buy the spring bracket 70909-95 called a receptacle.
Also if the quick release pin is bad:
Bail Head Stud (saddlebag quick release pin)

Yep, one of the two. If you push the camscrew all the way in, you should have spring tension. If there's a little too much flash from plating on the camscrew, it might not fully seat and vibrate loose. A simple file takes care of that.

Good info Chief (former minesweep sailor myself). I literally have the parts sitting right in front of me and should've listed them myself being that I just bought'em at lunch...
