I'd like one of those 14.5v batteries! The open circuit voltage of a six cell lead acid battery at full charge should be between 12.6v and 12.8v. The float voltage of a trickle charger should be between 13.5v and 13.8v.

If I were doing this, I would add a relay into the circuit to take the stress off the stock wiring, which is designed to carry ~110w on the low-beam side. Adding another 46w might be a problem, but not if you use a relay. OTOH, heat may be an issue if the lamps can't handle the extra heat, as has been said here.

Put a volt meter on your battery when your motor is running. What does it read when off of idle?

Well I was going to take the 50w bulbs out and put the stockers back in. That is until those bulbs just saved my *** tonight. With the brighter and more outspread light I was able to see a loose dog charging at me from the side of the road. I was able to slow down enough to avoid hitting it. If I had the stock bulbs in he would have been alot closer before I saw him. And at 60mph that would have not been cool.

give u an idea...i change my passing lamp with a pair of ACL lamp...hella made it...its 200W each, and have 100% same size with hd passing lamp dimension so it easy way to install, dun forget to change the all entire cable to a bigger size cable. and ur night riding will be a day riding...after this mod, NEVER turn ON the passing lamp when u there is car/bike ahead facing us (income traffic) becoz they will BLIND....
ACL= Air Craft Landing.....i can see VERY VERY CLEARLY in 100-150 mtres ahead....
when i want to pass a car, when i still behind the car, i turn the lamp on, the car WILL pull of the side itself becos they CANT see anything when my lamp shoot their mirror...hehehe....
