Default 09 tires on 08 SG

Has anyone looked into putting the new dunlop front tire and 17" wheel and the wider rear tire on an 08 SG? I'm curious if the new tread pattern and rubber compound on the 09's are part of what contributes to the better handling and better steering response. I've always thought that the higher aspect ratio on 16" rims would tend to make a less responsive ride than I'm used to on other bikes.

Any thoughts? The d407 tread pattern looks like a much more aggresive tread pattern as well.

The wider rear won't go on an earlier model bike without a serious infusion of cash. That's part of what the new frame is all about.

You would be money ahead to trade for an 09. Or sell yours and buy an 09 would save even more.

Front will work, but not the rear...

+1 on the front tire and wheel, but good luck with the $2500+ mods needed to put the 180 on the back of your bike. I truly don't believe the wider tire makes that much riding difference. I would think it would be more of a hindrance in wet conditions.

they are very adamant that the front tire will not work on any other bike. the tread is designed to work with the new dual compound rear tire. so you could get the wheel, and if you could find it, a different tire to go on it, maybe....
