HOT day, bike shuting down???
Saturday I was riding road guard for a memorial poker run, it was hot, like 90 all day. After the thrd leg of the run my bike would shut down as I pulled in the clutch. Always used Amsoil Synthetic except the last service was done with Harley's Synthetic oil...Does the Harley oil break down faster when it's hot out?

As a PGR member I have to ride in slower traffic in all kinds of weather, excess heat is one of them. I installed the oil cooler and a fan. Not the large HD fan. I have no problem with heat now other than me. Made a big difference. Yes the 07 has a sensor that will shut down the bike. I can tell when my Ultra is getting too hot, it will start to stagger, not smooth at low speeds.

Perfect timing... I was actually just wondering this. I ride my '04 Road King to work alot and sometimes get stuck in traffic when it's hot as hell out. Traffic would stop for a few minutes, then go 20 feet, then stop, then go, etc..., so shutting the bike off wasn't a good option.
Both times this happened, I sat there wondering what I should do. I didn't see anything in the manual about how long the bike can go without air before damage is done OR anything about it shutting down if it overheats. Basically, I'm curious about how to handle this situation. Any pointers?

shutting down...
the 2007 touring bikes will shut themselves off at low rpm to protect themselves from
damage in the heat, happened to me several times, roll up to a stop sign and poof! hit the starter and off she goes, next stop sign, off again. hit the starter and off we go again, it
was fine once i got back on the highway and ran some air through it.....it has nothing to do with oil or anything else, an oil cooler might give you a few more minutes in the heat, but if you
are stuck in traffic, it wont buy you that much more time....i have seen some small fans located in place of the horn, that might be an interesting remedy, if done right...
