Default Rethinking 09 w/ ABS option

Can anyone shed some light on replacing handlebars on an ABS equipped bike? I just got off the phone with the dealer regarding the matter and he stated that 08 models with ABS were having their warranties voided when the handlebars were swapped due to some adjustment that had to be made to the ABS. He stated that he thinks HD fixed the problem with the 09 model but wasn't sure. Does anyone have any info on this?

Definately want to change the handlebars on the bike and every bike I had before was non-ABS so I may just go without although I would like the added peice of mind of having ABS.

If you spill gas on the tank, your warranty will be voided...

You should never forego ABS, which could potentially save your life, just so you can change your handlebars and not worry about the warranty.

Personally, I've never worried about warranties when it comes to modding my cars or bikes. As tallboy56 alluded to, dealers can void warranties almost at will. If you're really worried about your warranty, don't do ANYTHING to your bike and never get service done ANYWHERE but at the dealer.

AMEN to that...........

A dealer will never touch my bike unless it's for a major warranty issue like a motor or transmission. If someone is going to dirty, scratch, drop my bike or leave fasteners loose, it will be me!.

It's not so much that HD can void the warranty at will, it's more the reasoning behind it that concerns me. Does something change with the ABS when the handlebars are swapped? Is ABS less effective after the handlebars are switched out?

If anyone has the chance to get ABS, get it. I would not have laied down my bike a month after I purchased her. Locked her up avoiding two Bambie's. Thank God for all the chrome protection on the Ultra Classics's.
