My last bike was a 1970 Honda SL350 and that was in 1970. In
September of 07 I bought a Vulcan 1600 and rode it for a month, sold it and bought the 08 FLHRC. Essentially it was 37 years, 3 kids and 35 years of a great marriage that kept me off the bike. Oh yes, there were also six back surgeries. Since November I had another back surgery (#6) in February, but I've managed to log 5600 miles since then. It's the best bike I've ever ridden and it is becoming part of me. I'm able to do figure 8's circles and stops like I'm on a scooter. The Harley beats the Kawai about 800,000 to 1, for handling, comfort, and looks.

The wife decided to learn to ride after riding on the back of mine. She is 150 lbs and 5'11" tall. Never ridden before. Took the MSF class and got her license and we bought a 02 RK as that is what she lliked best. We would go over to a large parking lot everyday for a couple of weeks as she got used to the RK. Then out on the street. That was 14 months and 12,000 miles ago. She is an excellent rider.

Had several off brands. 1st bike I ever rode (any distance) on the street was a 1973 Harley Sprint (12 yrs old) When I was 13 I rode my dad's (brand new-that day) 1974 FXE. Was he nuts or what??!!! 12 yrs later I actually bought that bike from him. Made it more of a Lowrider style bike. Had an 86" stroker motor. It went pretty good. Dumb thing was, at the time, I had a deposit on a (brand new) 1985 FXWG. Bought "Dad's" bike instead. A big mistake actually. Hind sight 20/20.
I learned allot though. Biggest lesson was, DON'T use taiwanese cci parts !!!
