ZUMO 550 XM Antenna Mounting
I just purchased a ZUMO 550 with the XM Radio Antenna Option. This antenna is 3 inches in diameter and I am thinking about mounting the antenna inside the Fairing. Have any of you ZUMO owners did this? If so, how was the reception? If you mounted the antenna some place else, how and where? Also, is there a power cable available where you can plug into the cigarette lighter when using the motorcyle mount? I appreciate any info you may give.

I mounted my xm under the fairing on top of the radio. Put a bit of silicon sealer around the edge (keeps if from sliding). I have had no problems losing the signal only once when I was traveling almost due north did I momentarily lose it. I know others have mounted it there also with no significant loss of signal.
I got a two prong plug from NAPA store and wired it to the extra wires that are coming from the headlight. The red one is the hot side, works great and I can unplug and remove the zumo. If you want to go the cigarette lighter way I would recommend a plug from west marine boat store, their plugs are somewhat durable and water resistant.
Also as a side note you do realize that that little round disk is not just the anntena but also it is actually the xm receiver.
Have fun and ride safe!

Inside Faring Mount of ZUMO XM Antenna
Thanks for the information. I will now go with the inside of the Fairing mounting for the XM Antenna and "Yes" I did also know that the antenna was also the XM Receiver. I'm now wondering if "Velcro" would hold the Antenna in place? I believe it would. Again thanks for your replies.

Under the faring did not work to well for me, kept losing the signal. I used that round disc that came with the receiver, I just bent the end with hole and attached it to the ram mount ( using top left fastener ) then coiled the extra cable on the bottom side of the disc,. Sorry I do not have any pic's to show you.
There has been a lot of threads on this subject in the past, I believe if you do a search you will find a few threads with pretty good pics of XM installs
