Default rubber 12 inch antennas $5.98 at Advance

fit perfect, take off all the adapters off the antenna & trash them, or keep them in your goody box

take the set screw off the OEM antenna, and unscrew it

put a little washer on the stub screw on the bike,

and put some medium loc tite on the aftermarket antenna

and run it down till it seats on the washer (you may need 2 washers)

if you monkey fist the antenna on, it will separate at the base, as the stub screw goes too far into the base.

ask me how i know

pics if you need them, they look "right"

Harley just came out with a shorty antenna. I simply cut my OEM down and it looks good and cost zero. No loss in reception, that I can tell.

i do data style MP3's, so the FM is for traffic only.

don't know how to work the CB yet (to busy riding to read the manual) so that antenna is just so it looks even with the other antenna.

my 08 radio did not pick up for crap anyways, so figure i did not lose anything.

I wound up with about 18". Looks just right and the reception is strong, but I am in a metro area with strong signals.

I tried the Tune Trapper in my fairing and the 12" rubber antenna and was not happy with either. My nearest radio station would be about 40 miles so reception is important to me.I now have my stock antenna back on but I'm considering getting H-D's shorty AM/FM antenna.

I am in a big town, but we usually ride out to the country to get away from traffic.

but a CD has so much more sound quality than the FM, i never listen to FM

Keep in mind if you use your CB with that antenna you will fry the finals in your radio. It may look better but is not SWR matched to your CB. Cutting the stock antenna will cause the same problems. The new shorty harley antenna's and the J&M's are swr matched to the CB.
