Default 09 rear cylinder shutdown

They are advertising it on 09 models, but few people know that you can do it on 08 models also, roll throttle all the way up and hold a few seconds, light comes on on the speedo, u can hear a little change in the motor, but can only hear it if u are listening for it

not sure if that was a joke or not, but if you have the throttle rolled all the way up,,,, you are standing still

Yes it is also known as the Parade Mode. It is also offered as a download for the stock ECM '07's and is also an option for '07 owners that have a SERT.

08 rear cylinder could be set to shut down. Think the 07 would do it also, If mine goes into that mode before Thundermax comes out with a new unit. I will pull into the dealer and tell them to disable it. I do not want the rear cylinder shuttin down for any reason other than the motor melting or blowing up.
If that's Harleys sale point to not add fuel to the bike it ain't right.
I'm against the EPA also.

I must say I kinda like the rear cylinder shut down. As long as I don't notice it I'm good with it. On my new 09 SG if I don't have the tunes on and I am listening for it I can hear it shut down and make a small difference in noise. Not much though. Why wouldn't anyone want it to shut down? Am I missing something?.

Early '08 touring bikes did not have it as a built in feature. It had to be turned on or off by the dealer. On later models, it is turned on or off by rolling the throttle as stated above.

I'd rather my rear cylinder functioning as an air pump in EITMS mode therefore offering some long term benefit of my $20k+ investment, vice melting the pistons down to mere ashes while sitting in traffic only to find out it may not be covered under warranty because I was too hard-headed to take advantage of HD's offering.

I dunno, maybe I'm the "touched" one.

I always wondered why the light flashed when I held the throttle forward for a few seconds. Do it once and the cruise light flashes green. Do it again and it flashes orange. I assume green means it is enabled, orange disabled.. ? Make sense?
