Default '08 wheels on a '05 bike?

Will the wheels from an '08 touring bike fit on a '05 touring bike?

I know the '06 and '07 wheels will fit, but I'm not sure about '08 or '09 wheels.

Thanks,

Steve

Should work with a 1" bearing swap.

Default 08 wheels

Im pretty sure that 08 wheels have a different bore/depth than prior as well as 25mm bearings. I suspect they would not be an easy swap. I do have a perfect set of 05 9 spoke dresser wheels avail if any interest.

The '05s have the 1" bearings already.

I wasn't sure about the ABS stuff, and if they went to a slightly larger axle on the '08 and '09 models.

I'm kinda looking for a set of FLHX wheels/tires to put on my bike.........and there always seems to be '08 sets on ebay.

Maybe just the front, I have some marks on mine from a tire change gone bad last year.

Steve, the best way (IMO) to determine fitment issues is the parts book. Try a PM to Dawg and ask him to compare the PN's for the SG wheels in '08 parts book to the earlier models. He can also check the spacers in the front. If the wheel part numbers are the same, you're good to go with a bearing swap.

I did this at my dealership when swapping my OEM wheels for RG silver wheels; and, repeated it when my friend was swapping '03 Ultra wheels for '06 RG silver wheels. Even though the axle sizes were different in '03 compared to '06, the PN's for black wheels were the same; ditto comparing silver RG wheels in '04 (my bike's model year) to '06 RG wheels.
