Sounds like a good idea, anyone know how accurate the gauge is?

You can also buy the fitting at Ace hardware (or other places): it's a 3/8" Male NPT X 1/8" female NPT "bushing" IIRC.

I moved the voltmeter to the air temp slot and installed the oil temp gauge in the vacated voltmeter position to have the oil pressure and temp gauges together. Rather than run the wiring from the front of the bike to the fuse block per the instructions, I simply tapped power and ground inside the fairing. It's been awhile, but IIRC, I used the cigarette lighter wiring.

Another question is how did you run the wiring? Under the tank or along the frame?
I ran the sender wire along the frame and up the same as the clutch cable.

Did you remove the set screw after bringing the motor up to normal operating temps to help with breaking it loose??? Thanks in advance!
I don't recall the engine temp at the time, but mine was easily removed. I did use a ratchet, probably 3/8", with whatever socket type it is (Allen or Torx). BTW, you only need to run one wire from the sender to the gauge, which goes to the SIG terminal on the guage. The sender gound wire can be connected anywhere on the frame or other good ground.

Last night I finished the installation of the oil pressure gauge. Roughly 3 hours. The set screw came out no problem and barely lost any oil during the switch over to the temp sending unit. I ended up removing the tank (super easy on an 08) and running the wires underneath the tank, in the wire channel. I decided to keep the gauge in the same spot as the air temp. I grabbed power from the wires that were used by the air gauge. I did struggle with the bracket that holds the gauge in place but got it all figured out. Fired it up at 11:30 pm, and took a nice cruise up I95.

Since the oil temp gauge is new to me I was surprised and still need to know if it is normal for the gauge to start the 110 marker or actually just below?

It must be working because after cruising last night when I got home the gauge read 190 ish. I measured the temp at the oil pan where the temp sending unit is with an IR thermometer and it read 194. Close enough to what the new gauge was reading.

I also measured the temp at the housing that the oil filter screws onto and it was around 211. The oil pan must be doing a decent job of dissipating some heat out of the oil.
