I can say I bought an Ultra.
Soon, You can too.
Went through almost EXACTLY the same thing last month. I had an 06 RK. It was a great bike, but I wanted a batwing, ABS, and to a lesser extent, a radio. Kept going back to the dealer - which is 50 miles from me, "just to browse". Finally got everything in place (read sold my wife on the idea ), found the right Ultra, got the deal I wanted, and pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago. Within five minutes of riding home from the dealer, I knew that I made the right decision.

My RK had a stage 1, and for a while, the Ultra felt a little sluggish compared to the RK. From a power standpoint, it seemed like something was missing. Beginning of this week, I did the 1000 mile service. Next, I installed Rinehart slip-ons, a PCIII, and a SE A/C. 1000 mile service didn't really have anything to do with the Stage1 conversion, I just wanted to wait until that point. Maybe it's mostly perception, but wow, what a difference! The Ultra is definitely awake now!

If you can get buy-in from management, you should definitely get the Ultra.

Having put 24k on my '07 Ultra I can say you'll enjoy the ride with or without the tourpack. Good luck on your selection and ride safe.

I hesitate to even say this.

Unless your saving BIG on the 08, and I mean SEVERAL thousand, Wait and get the 09. (I wouldn't take the 08 for 3k off the 09 price)

Please, 08 owners, don't take offense at that. Its not intended that way.

You will enjoy the bike without the extra weight.
Will do, thanks for the advice.

If I had to do it again I would strongly consider the Road glide. More stable at highway speeds and you can always add lowers.
