Default 2000 Marelli EFI Questions???

I have a 2000 Ultra Classic that is having some problems with hard starting, erratic idle and what not. I have looked into zippers performance marelli conversion kit for my bike, and that ran almost $2000. I only owe $5600 on my bike now and i was wondering if i should just sell it for $12000 that i have already been offered and buy a new 2009 vivid black street glide?

Or should i just "fix" my bike with the conversion and do some motor work? Thanks

if you can walk with over $6000 to put down on a 2009, do that. I own my 2000 FLHTCI outright, so I am not going back to payments personally. But you already have that, so I would just get into something new.

If you can get 12K for a 2000 Ultra I'd flip it so fast...........get the new one, you may never get another offer that good.

My 2000 runs great and I have no issues with the MM EFI, but if you're having issues with yours and can still sell it for $12,000, run, don't walk, to the person making the offer and sell it. You didn't say how many miles you have or whether the cam chain tensioners have been checked/changed, but unless you do things yourself, you've got some maintenance costs coming up.

I like having no payments on my bike, so I would try to fix it since your getting close to owning it. My '00 RK runs great with the Marelli injection.

Instead of going to some aftermarket fuel system, why not try to find out what's wrong with yours first? It may be as simple as an intake leak, and in fact with the symptoms you've posted that would be the first thing I'd check. The M/M fuel system isn't as sophisticated as the Delphi system on newer bikes, but there's WAY too many of them out there doing a good job just to write it off as junk.
The 12K you've been offered for your bike IS a more than fair price, and buying new is a good option. Only you know your financial situation and if you can afford a new scoot. Just don't put yourself in a bad situation by trading IF you can't swing the payments when a relatively cheap repair job may be all that's needed on the one you've got.

Hdsporty, you have a very nice looking bike, but I can't tell if you're head over heels for it. I think the MM EFI has gotten more bad press than it deserves. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the newer Delphi systems, but it's not bad either. The only reason I say you should sell it is that getting $12k for a 2000 is a VERY good price, especially if you're not sure how you feel about keeping it. Even if you didn't buy an 08 or 09, you could get an 05 or 06 for a very good price, too. So many options, what's a fella to do?
