I put michelin on the rear about 1500 miles ago and really like it, changed the dunlop on the front to Michelin today. I got 5k on the first rear dunlop and 8k out of the Metz 880. Hope fully the Michelin will do as good or better than the Metz. I will say this, the front dunlop took 1 and 1/4 oz to balance it. the Michelin took 1/2 oz. if that means any anything.

I need to purchase a new back tire, my gauge shows 1/32 inch left before replacement, only 6,600 miles with Dunlop 402, and I ride it very conservative. I think I will try Michelins next.

can't imagine 6200 miles, particularly if you watch your tire pressure closely and ride conservatively. I am changing mine out this week at 15k miles, normal riding.

I got to ride my Michelin's home in the rain today. MUCH improvement over the Dunlpp 402's I had before. I never felt the least bit slippage -- very comfortable on wet roads. Even if I don't see an improvement in mileage, I'm leaning toward having improved traction as a better tradeoff.

Just purchased 09 Ultra. It will be interesting to see what kind of milage I get out of the 180 that's on the back. Had an 98 Ultra that got about 10K off each tire since I bought it in 99

Default Rear tire mileage...

Very impressive! I too get excellent mileage out of my Dunlops. I got the bike with 18k miles and replaced the rear tire twice, bike currently has 51K miles. Check tire pressure daily I still have 4/32" of tread left on the rear.

On my 2007 UC, I traded the stock dunlops for Metzlers at 15000 miles (1 front and 2 rears). I traded the Metzlers for Michellins after another 12,000 miles (1 front and 2 rears) I now have about 3000 miles on my Miche's. The front looks brand new, but the back is showing some wear. I ride 2 up 95% of the time and have a 103 Stage II kit with a Fatcat....I will not trade tires again. As far as performance, the Mich handle better than the Metz which handled better than the Dunlop.

I've got 10-14k out of all my 402's and 8-12k out of all my 880's. I have been considering the Mich's next change. I like the 880's fine except for all the noise they make going down the road. I thought after the first set on my 89 Heritage it might have just been a fluke but had the same problem after I put a set on my 06 SG. I'm surprised I haven't seen any other comments on here about the noise.
