Do it in the fall before you put it away for the winter. Don't start it while stored. Put a battery tender on your battery, a little fuel stabilizer in the tank and when spring comes everything will be ready to go.

+1...this is what I do too. I also fill the gas tank full (with fuel stabilizer added) so there will be little chance for condenstaion.
