unfortunately yes. the co. that has the repair contract deals only with the dealer. you can however remove and reinstall the radio. there is a program link http://www.harley-davidson.com/cp/mo...?locale=en_US& that you can use to set the radio up for free. you will lose your warrenty but refurbs are only 30 days anyway

correct vegas fltri. BUT if the dealer doesnt do its removal and reinstall they wont warrenty radio. i merely posted the link to save someone .5 hr labor for 7 to 10 min work.
at my dealer it was 1.0 to remove and reinstall.5 to program thats 135$ for the labor at 90$ per hr. and 275$ for the refurbed radio for a total of 410$. this is all out of warrenty work. 1st radio died 2 months out dealer wouldnt take care of it.
