Smile 08 SG--What would I have to do to run a 150 rear tire

I understand that my 3 inch wide rim will not accomodate the 150 and I might have to modify the belt and or fender. Wonder if it's worth all of the trouble. I am about to have to change the stock 140, 8700 miles on it, still has good tread but after reading some of these posts better play it safe.

What do yaw think?

A 150 will fit without a problem. I run a 150 on my '07. Now if you go to a 160 you may have to trim the belt guard a bit. Some do, some don't.

Ooops, I run 3.5 inch wheels, sorry. A bit too early in the morning for me. A 3" wheel will more than likely be advised against running a 150.

Sorry for not reading the post correctly.

You can easily run a 160 rear tire (Venom) by changing the rear belt drive pully and changing the belt to a 1 inch softail belt. You'll have to remove the aftermarket chrome belt guard if you have one.

I believe there are some pictures on my webshots page: http://community.webshots.com/user/hdcruiser around page 5 or 6.

I am on my second 150 on my 07 Sg. I have not had a problem. I have ran the metz 880 and I now have a Michelin 150-80-16 on the back.

Yes, absolutely. The Metzeler tire fitment guide shows that their 150/80B16 rear tire will correctly mount on a wheel between 3.00 and 4.00 in width. There are 1000s of bikes out there running 150/80B16 tires on 3.00 wheels.
