WindowMan was correct. Burn the mp3s as a DATA disc not a music disc. That was the correct answer to the OP's question.

Default Burn slow

I found you will have a better chance of less skipping if you burn the disc slower than say 52x. I find I get a better quality disc when i slow it down to 8x. It never skips at all.

I have about 145 tunes on one cd disc. When you burn your disc burn it as data not audio. The radio will play it as mp3. You can only do this with music originally recorded as mp3, not wma's.

I just burned a CD with 239 Beatles MP3's, all 128kb/s, 44 khz. Works fine. All of my MP3 CD's have >225 songs. Beats the hell out of standard CD's for that reason plus it reads ahead and almost eliminates skipping or other problems normally associated with CD's in a vehicle. It's not tracking as with a standard CD, but reading a computer file and storing it in memory as it plays.

+1

128/44 is plenty good for the bike. I average 185 songs.

Why burn it at a higher quality for a CD that will play on your bike? Even if it's for your car, the higher quality doesn't really do much for you, unless you have a system that you are using in competition! All you are really doing is restricting the number of songs you can have on one CD!

I average about 135 songs per disk. I don't really go look closely at the quality, but I try not to download anything higher than 192, and try to stick with the 128.

To answer the original question, all bikes with the HK radio will play mp3 CD's. That radio came out in 06. The ones prior were CD (cda) format only.
