1000 mile service ?

RE: 1000 mile service ?
I think that you should have the dealer do it. You may be an engine builder but do you know the nuances of a HD v-twin? Do you know what to look for and do you have the lastest service bulletins from the factory? IF you knew what to look for would you know it when you saw it? Lot of questions. You are or have invested a lot of desposale income on this ride. Why cheap out at the last minute.
That said on my last ride a metric I did it myself and it was fine. Just saying that you have alot of money tied up to save a couple of bills might not be worth it. Your call.........

As for those that automatically assume that the second that someone wants to do their own scheduled +1.....BUT sometimes I let the local dealer do the first service just to throw them a bone and start a relationship with them....get on their computer system and all that good stuff.

Yep. Go for it. Just keep receipts showing purchases and with date done and mileage. Get the manual and do it it.

After that I do all scheduled services myself.maintenance that its to save money. Well some people like myself like working on their bikes....I like to know the job is done and done correctly. I stay abreast of all service bulletins and have been wrenching on bikes for 27 years....the first 15 professionally....and yes I am still learning, but I do enjoy it quite a bit, and the satisfaction that goes with it. And....no you will not void anything!
