How many of you downshift as you come to a stop (to slow the bike in order to save brake pads)?&nbsp\\;

 

I downshift at the manual suggested intervals while coming to a stop, but the instructor at the advanced class said it is a bad idea to downshift because it ruins the tension of primary chain. What do you guys do?

 

Kick the "instructor" in the gonads! By downshifting as ya go, yer in the proper gear if ya suddenly need ta take evasive action!

 

Downshift to match RPM's.&nbsp\\;I brake and downshift as I go.

I too downshit and brake

 

Downshift and brake.&nbsp\\; I want to be in the right gear for the speed I am traveling in case I need to make a move

 

downshift as you brake.... nothing sucks as much as trying to downsfift, when you and the bike are sitting still

 

I never downshift to "save brake pads". Brake pads are a lot cheaper than engine parts. I do downshift as I brake to make sure I am in the proper gear for the speed.
