Hi Guys,
I just bought a new 2008 Ultra Classic a few days ago. \\;I've approx. 300 miles on her and I noticed a tapping noise coming form the engine. \\; Always owned water cooled bikes before and never heard this noise on any of them. \\; I took her back to the dealer twice and got the same answer. \\; Normal noise, part of the break-in period. Blah, blah, blah...
Is this true.
Thanks for the help.

A little noise is normal for HD bikes. \\; Due to engine design, engine noises migrate up through \\;the pushrods to the rocker boxes. \\;It was that way on my Sporty and the same on E-glide. \\; Once the engine finishes breaking in some of the tapping will go away, but never completely. \\; If it gets bothersome do what I do on long rides - wear ear plugs or turn the music up good and loud. \\;

I have 8000 miles on my "08" ultra. The noise gets louder every week. Dealer says its normal. Of course there is no adjustment on the valves so they have to say that. Someone on here said it has hydraulic lifters so there is no need for adjustment. Bull s***. Chevy motors have almost always had hydraulic lifters, and you can still adjust the valves. I guess Harley just doesn't have that option. Let's just engineer a valve tap into the engine with no way to take it out. Makes sense to me.
