I am glad you asked that question. I was beginning to think I had solid lifters and the valve lash needed adjustment.

 

+10 on this post, i noticed the same thing. look at adding lucas oil additive, that stuff adds oil hold with the plastic in it. hd oil is a product of venezula.

 

I have noise coming from my 07 Ultra but it's only real loud at 2200 to 2400 RPM.
I don't know if it's coming from the engine or primary.&nbsp\\; It's left side noise.

The dealer also suggested&nbsp\\;that if I add Aimsoil/Sytnh at my 1000 mile check up that may help quite the noise.&nbsp\\; Again thanks for all the responses you guys settled the knot in my stomach.

Dont count on syn. oil or Lucas oil stabilizer&nbsp\\;to stop the noise.I've tried that on my '06.
Ear plugs do the trick.

 

'08 Softail Custom has just a bit of valve lash noise and I have loud pipes, but I can still hear the engine just fine.&nbsp\\; My '08 Ultra has noticable top-end noise with it being completely stock.&nbsp\\; The Ultra noise is around 2000-2500rpm.&nbsp\\; Eh, extended warranty on the Ultra, so no worry.

 

I have noticed when I have the intercom on riding two up that I hear more engine noise. I can turn off the intercom and do not hear it. Seems the noise gets picked up quite easily by the mics.

Most of the time when you switch to syn. oil you will heard even more noise. That has always been the case on my HD s.

 

Piston slop, took my ultra in at least six times. 20 year old tech figured it out. Mine sounds like a motor should sound. NO TICKING.....

 

That's just the sound of your feeting tapping to the beat of the musice coming from your stereo. Add some earplugs. Helps reduce noises and is good for ear protection also.
