if it just a spot or two a penny works well but make sure it an older copper one not new

Easy Off oven cleaner, warm not hot exhaust pipe, leave on overnite, wipe clean next morning.
Worked for me.

Warm exhaust + easy off + 0000 steel wool \\; always works for me.
