I have a 2008 SERK and have trouble taking off in first unless I rev it up first. Stealer says there is nothing wrong with the bike and that it is normal. Now I see the they changed first gear and made it lower in the 09 model. What a lie.

Not sure of what your complaint is when you refer to "reving" to get started in first gear.&nbsp\\; Standard transmission cars (and our bikes) require us to add gas as we release the clutch.
&nbsp\\;
Lots of riders have felt that the gearing in the Touring bikes&nbsp\\;has been&nbsp\\;too tall since HD went to the 3:15 final drive in '02, and more recently with the '07 and '08 Touring model six-speeds.&nbsp\\; The added dry weight of the '09's and their ability to carry more weight may
be the reason for the lower gearing.&nbsp\\; Whether that's a "lie" or not, I guess everyone can form their own opinionmine is that's it not.

The problem is so way spread that Baker is building a 7 Speed transmission because of the tall first gear

Baker wouldn't have to build a 7 speed to address the change in gearing. They are building a 7 speed because they see an opportunity to satisfy the '07 and up owners that prefer a shorter 1st gear, want to eliminate the 1st and 5th gear whine, don't mind shifting thru 7 gears and have the $$$$ to spend. Anyone want to guess what this little package will cost?????

I don't get the problem. Help me out here please. No issue on my FLHRC. Of course it's a 107 and runs great!
