Mine did that once, I made sure the throttle was closed, switched ignition on and off 4 times, restarted, back to normal ever since. Go figure???

Didnt you know you were not supposed to touch the handlebars during operation on an 08? Yup, no hands.Start the bike and put your hands in your pockets then take off.

The fix is to turn the switch on/off 4 times. for future use just shut the bike down either by kill switch or the ignition-Heres the keywithout touching the throttle.Thats it.............

I know this is a crazy idea, but have you considered taking it to an HD dealer?

Before I bought my new eg classic I rented one. When I started it at the dealer the idle was too high. The guy at the dealer did the on/off thing 4 times and restarted it. Idle was normal again. I'm a believer.

I was told by the dealer that you can also with the bike off turn the ignition on and just throttle 4x and it resets.Dont know how true since i havent had the high idle as of yet. Also he told me that the high idle problem arises when riders have throttled forward for whatever reason.

When you say "turn the switch on and off 4x" do you mean the "start switch" or the actual **** on top the neck?

i had this problem too after the dealer put a new fairing on my SG. I got the bike back and was idling at 2000 rpm's at the stop light. They didn't know about the fix and said they have never heard of this issue.

The ignition switch......the MAIN switch, not the stert button, or the kill switch.
