RE: trailer
Enclosed is the way to go much better security and protection from the elements. \\;I have a 14x7 tandem axle Wells Cargo cycle hauler that I bought used, and it can haul two dressers and some other stuff. \\;If it's less than 7 foot wide, you're not going to be able to fit 2 large bikes. \\;Even if you don't think you need a trailer big enough to haul two bikes, I'd still recommend getting one that can you never know when \\;it might come in handy. \\;Also, it would probably have better resale value. \\;There are lots of options, but the only ones you need are a rear ramp door, a side door, D-rings to anchor to, and a low profile.

I have a 5x10 cargo that my 08UC fits in perfectly with just enough room for the extras and i use it for the same reason. I like to bring my dog with us. I have a condor wheel chock and 6 d-rings in the floor and use 6 Big Daddy Powertyes to strap it in. Solid as a rock. Small enough to not drag me down when towing and that keeps my gas mileage up.

Enclosed trailers are for sure the way to go. I bought a 5' x 8' V-nose with 6' inside height with ramp door for $1,450. Bought the decals from a dealer and bought a pair of aluminum rims off a late model Ford Ranger. All together I have about $1,590 in it. I also am in the same boat as you when I go on vacation and this way everybody is happy. Plus when I get to our vacation area it is really nice to unload a nice shinny polished bike no matter what I drove through getting to our vacation destination.

Go for a v nose if you can for the enclosed trailers. Dad has a 16 foot \\;v nose enclosed tandem that tows really nice. \\;Can fit three baggers in there if need be. \\;The V nose really makes a difference in towing, plus adds a little space to store more stuff. \\; It's surprising how much we have used that thing already this year. \\;
