LUCAS SYNTHETIC OIL - 2 QUESTIONS?

Default LUCAS SYNTHETIC OIL - 2 QUESTIONS?

WENT TO LOCAL ATO SUPPLY HOUSE - THE ONLY SYNTHETIC FOR MC THEY HAD WAS LUCAS 20/50 - ANYONE HERE USE IT? AND THEY HAD NOTHING HEAVIER FOR USE IN TRANNY - THEY TOLD ME TO USE THE 20-50???

OH AND THEY TOLD ME THAT ONCE YOU PUT SYNTHETIC IN AN ENGINE YOU CAN NEVER SWITCH BACK IS THAT TRUE? GUY THERE CLAIMED HE USED TO WORK IN SERVICE AT HD - MAYBE HE LEARNED TO SELL WHAT THEY HAD INSTEAD OF WHAT YOU ASK FOR?

You can do better with AMSOIL or Mobil 1. As for not being able to switch.... complete and utter BS!! You can go back and forth between the 2 at every change if you wanted to

I have been running the Lucas in all three holes and love it, no problems. Runs cooler and quieter, couldnot be more pleased

In the early days of synthetic oil, they did not mix with mineral oil - they colored the oil green (Duchams oil - for the UK guys). These days all oils need to meet specific standards which dictate they must mix without degrading etc.

As for the choice, get Amsoil if you can.lots of threads about how good it is.

Lucas makes a good syn. trans. oil 75-90 wt.

20/50 for the motor and primary at least 75/90 gear oil for the tranny

try amsoil severe gear great stuff-ride safe
