ok... 05&nbsp\\;FLTRi&nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;big sucker air, and stage one... SE slipons, ME880 running 43 f 48r, 25psi on the rear shocks, old fat rider 235lbs. nice sweepy country roads, from Raleigh NC , to Chase City VA, and back again... all back roads... steady 45-60 MPH 202.3 miles, filled tank before I left, filled tank when I returned....3.76 gals, equals 53.8 MPG.... and YES.... when I commute, I only average 40-43 MPG... but when you commute, there are more cars to navigate around, and there is a lot more throttle input

&nbsp\\;32 is the best I've ever gotten. But most of my riding is in town and I do have a bit of a lead foot or maybe that should be jurky wrist.

My first fillup on a new 08 UC got me 38 mpg and most of that tank was 2-up mixed riding. The dealer actually had a tag hanging on the bike in the shop saying something about 50+ mpg. Called it a "green" bike. Yeah, whatever. Hoping to work into the 40's as it breaks in. Aside: I rode my 2001 Kawasaki ZRX1200R once over the mountains in washington from Seattle to Wenatchee and back much of it over 100 mph and got an average 50 mpg.

Dunno why but if I'm reasonably conservative (not horsing around) and cruising (65-80 mph) as opposed to around town, I get 50 mpg with no problem. If I'm playing boy racer hero it dives but still is over 40. 2007 FLHX, stage I with Rineharts...nothing special. I keep the tires toward the high end of inflation and I do tend to get into 6th gear as early and often as possible and stay there.

Can't explain it, just know what it is. I consistently get between 47 (checked yesterday) and 51 mpg (checked two weeks ago). Good karma I guess.

I just returned last week from a round trip from Denver to Yellowstone.&nbsp\\; Filled my 2008 Ultra tank 12 times and recorded each one, summed up the total gas &amp\\; miles.&nbsp\\; My average mileage was 49.3.&nbsp\\; My friend rode a Goldwing 1800 but pulled a trailer and his average was 38 mpg.&nbsp\\; I would say that we were on 2 lanes 80% of the time and freeways the other 20%.&nbsp\\; Needless to say I am very pleased with my first Harley.

On my last trip I managed 50.5mpg on one tank, mostly backroads at moderate speeds. Getting 50mpg is repeatable as long as speed is kept reasonable (50-55mph), no cold starts, and little stop-and-go traffic. I don't think it is possible to get 55mpg on a TC96, but perhaps someone has done it. Could do it easily on my old carbed Evo RK, however.

I get 40-43 mpg...I could probably get a lot better, but that would mean I would have to give up kicking the crap out of the crotch rockets...I like making them cry!

ORIGINAL: Biff_H

I read the posts about people getting 45 to 55 MPG from a Ultra Classic?
I have a 06 Ultra Classic stock with K&amp\\;\\\\\\;N filter and SE slip-ons and HD map stage1, M880's with 140 on the rear, 10000 mile service with new plugs, Mobile 1 oils all-around. I'm 265 + 810(bike) = 1075lbs. Best mileage I have ever gotton was 41.6 mpg 1 time. I full-up with about 4.6 or 4.7 gallons (93 Oct) on aveage per tank and only get 36 to 38 mpg no more. I keep my hand off the thottle not big running light to light.
The only riding I have gotton in, in the last few months is from work and back going no more than 50 to 55 mph. Would someone please explain to me how you are getting these types of aveages 45 to 55 MPG.

Thanks
Biff
