Default 4000 mile oil chanhe

Going to do a 4000 mile oil change Chicago heavy traffic at times gears clunk, louder when hot. is Amsoil 20w 50 in all 3 holes recommended. Also is changing the trans fluid with the oil recommended or is it overkill. Thanks

i run amsoil 20-50 for oil and primary the 75-90 severe gear in the tranny found it to be smoother shifting.&nbsp\\; manual says 20k for tranny on my 08 but did it at 5k anyways.

I run AMSOIL in all 3 holes. Have been for many years on many Putts. Change out Engine oil every 5K and Trans 10K. In heavy traffic ALL THE TIME as I live in So Calif.

HD manual says 5K on oil, 10K on tranny and 20K on primary. IF you decide to follow the book. I change oil every 5K and will do the others at 10K.

WHy not change your fluids based on their condition rather than an arbitrary schedule? For example your primary will be cleaner/dirtier based on how much shifting you do (traffic or highway) and whether you are a clutch-slider (which most of us do a little more if we ride with a passenger or in hilly conditions). I guess to keep it simple and to have an external reminder mileage is an OK tool but there are other ways.[:-]

I did my own 5 k and my indy recommended amsoil 20w50 for the engine 10x40 or maybe it was 10w30 i can verify that for the primary and amsoil gear lube for the tranny (cant remember the number) works fine.
