Default Question about Tach for Roadking

I have a 1997 FLHR-I and I was told that because it has EFI that I can not put a tach on it, I saw a great factory Roadking tach on EBay and did not bid on it because it may not work.&nbsp\\; Any help would be great, I know that Ultra's have a tach and they came out in 97 with EFI.

The mini tachs are in the 08 catalog. Only no-fit I saw was if you have a windshield bag. Don't see that FI would make any difference. The combination speedo/tach is for 07.

I had one of the minitachs(purchad from Zanotti)&nbsp\\;installed on my '08 FLHR\\; dealer charged two hours.&nbsp\\; I had them do it because the instructions made the job look a little difficult.

My '05 Road King Police came with one from the factory. Don't see why it wouldn't work for you. It connects inside the headlight nacelle.

Whoever told you that is full of BS. &nbsp\\;Here's a 97 EFI&nbsp\\;for sale with a mini tach:

The description has the part number for the tach he used.

My 05 has efi and my HD mini tach works great. I had a mount custom made for it so I could mount it about the speedo and not interfere with my detachable fairing

In order for MOST aftermarket tachs to work you need either a pink wire or a pin in the speedometer plug (usually # 3 pin). If not then you are probably stuck with a combination tach. We are trying to get a mini-tach to work on an '04 EFI softail. We even tried using Dyna's tach adapter with out any luck. I am sure that a top end tach would probably work, but the less expensive mini's can give you problems.
