Race tuner vs: Power commander Question?

RE: Race tuner vs: Power commander Question?
I was also told to buy a Race Tuner when I wanted to replace my SE slip ons with the V&\\;H slip ons(I already had the stage I and the SE AC). \\; Instead I ordered the V&\\;H FuelPak for $220 and programed it from the web site maps. \\; Everything runs and sounds great now.

RE: Race tuner vs: Power commander Question?
There have been a few people that have had problems with the pc111 but It works. This issue is as confusing as the warranty crap. I chose the Sert because I did not want to play with a laptop and tune my bike to get a ok tune. I wanted to dyno it to get it right the first time. You do not have to dyno a Sert to tune it if you know what you are doing but you will not do what a good dyno tune can and that goes for the pc111. I did not want any hang on devices on my bike fooling the computer.

Since the SERT is a competitive product to PCIII you're rarely going to find a HD dealer who will recommend PCIII. As stated, many thousands of bikes running PCIII and I've yet to hear of a problem caused by it. My local dealer told me it's a potential point of failure as compared to the SERT which reprograms the stock EFI tables. Can PCIII fail? Possibly, but so can your stock EFI module. In case PCIII fails just unplug it and you're back to stock.

Since 95% of the people running them have also changed their pipes and air cleaner, if you go back to stock computer set up by "just unplugging it" \\;(especialy on the 08 \\;and up bikes) you stand a good chance of toasting your already lean running engine. Sure, Dyno Jet will send you a new PCIII in a few weeks, but that doesn't \\;do you a bit of good sitting on the side of the road. And if "your" dealer installed the PCIII, you think another dealer will warrant it? I highly doubt it. Since you purchased a SERT or SEST from Harley, you stand a better chance of getting on the road problem corrected by another dealership.
And if you do toast your motor by running to lean from the air cleaner and pipe mods because you "just unplugged" your PCIII, guess who gets to pay for a new motor?? \\;
Just food for thought

Still all very confusing! Way to many conflicting opinions on pipes and tuners/fuel packs. My concern with my 08 is, I want pipes, but afraid to really do anything. Will slip on's only, effect my Cali bike with cats?? Will the 02's cause a CEL to come on? Will it need a map with just slip on's and no AC?? Some say yes, some say no! Go figure And, what is SERT or SEST?
