i started getting a bad rattle/lifter noise during my road trip last week, after checking today, i found that i have 5200+ miles on the oil change, maybe over extended the life of the oil on a 107 motor ????&nbsp\\; any guesses ?????????

5200 would not be too many for the oil.

Nowt wrong with 5k on a good synthetic.

 

i am running about 5000 on mine before change, but he mentioned he has a 107" motor

 

5K on any decent oil is no prob.. syn or non-syn, it's all good.&nbsp\\; Personally I change my oil every 2500... but that's just me. Normal folks change it every 5K.

 

maybe a lifter bleeding down? proper pushrod adj? oil isnt a cure all but should be looked at as the blood of the scoot. 2500 to 4500 wont hurt it to change but 5k is acceptable

 

i have run dyno oil up to and over 7000 miles on my 95inch without lifter noise, but this seems to be excess, i try not too run it over the 4500/5000 mark with the 107,&nbsp\\; it just seems that the lifters are dumping really badly when sitting for over a half hour, noisy as a bitch when i refire and quite down after 30/45 secounds and get on the road and not noisy when rolling

People just go crazy about oil changes.&nbsp\\; Any good full synthetic, run it for 15K, change filter and top off every 5K.

 

i should mention that the noise started about 900 miles into the trip, putting the oil change out at about 2500 miles......&nbsp\\;easy highway miles too, cruiseing up I95 &amp\\; I26 at 75 mph........
