Come on guys. \\;\\\\\\; He's "old school" and the ABS is giving him fits. \\;\\\\\\; I think it might \\;\\\\\\;not working correctly or is out of adjustment (if that can happen). \\;\\\\\\; Regardless, I don't know enough about it and just wanted some input. \\;\\\\\\; My opinion on this matter really doesn't matter, I'm just trying to help a friend \\;\\\\\\;out and \\;\\\\\\;wanted some information.  \\;\\\\\\;Constructive input appreciated...Isn't that what this forum is for? \\;\\\\\\; Thanks for the \\;\\\\\\;help.

Interesting with all of the "removing ABS is the equivalent of committing suicide" posts on here as if there isn't a 100 year history of vehicles without ABS protection. I can't offer an opinion about the legal ramifications, if any, so I just go with his bike, his money, his choice. He has two choices, one already covered, buy and install the non ABS factory plumbing, or 2. have some short connecting hoses fabricated to join the "in" and "out" lines at the ABS unit and eliminate it right there. If it were my bike, I would go with the new factory plumbing to minimize the number of connections and the possibility of some non factory line rubbing somewhere and springing a leak. In my view, THIS ABS system in a "snake in the grass" just waiting to bite at the most inopportune time (Murphy's Law). If there had NEVER been a brake LOCK-OUT WHILE RIDING, it might be easier to say wait until it fails, when the pedal or lever locks up, THEN decide if you will repair or remove. There are lots on non ABS bikes out there, including mine. We all "pay our money and take our chances" EVERY TIME we ride with or without ABS. If I kill myself due to brake error, at least it will be ME that did it, not some wild electron that failed my ABS (AND BRAKES) just when I needed brakes. Pulling the ABS fuse will disable the system BUT I have no idea if that also means that the brake lock out will never occur. That "fine point" requires knowledge well beyond what I possess.
