I opted for the EG. With the money I saved, I was able to get the SG look and upgrade the seat, radio and \\;add some bling. It still ended up costing me less than the SG. The down side is you end up with the silver powder coated block and polished \\;eng covers.
They should really make this one a sticky. Seems to come up about twice a month. Get the one you WANT in the first place. If you try to scrimp to save money up front, but really want something else, you will just pay twice as much in the end to add it on.
I agree about spending xtra $ upfront. Like most here, I will wait to see what 09 brings and if changes are minor try to get a deal on an 08 or a good 07 used bike like an Ultra.
I chose the Street Glide because I liked the plain fenders, chrome and clean front. \\; At the time I wasn't thinking about two-up riding. \\; When that came into the picture, I spent a bunch of money adding a detachable tour pak, and fairing lowers, and oh yes the SG stock seat doesn't cut it for comfortable two-up riding. \\; And forget about adding an intercom to the H-D radio. \\; Anyway, if I had it to do over again, I'd buy the Ultra Classic. \\; I think your choice is between the EGC and the SG the Standard is just too spartan. \\; But if you're thinking about doing any amount of two-up riding, forget the SG and consider the EGC or the Ultra.
