I was removing the fairing the other day. When I tried to remove the headlamp harness it did not come completely off and was broken on the bulb end. I ended up leaning the fairing on the running lamps instead of behind them. Well I got no further then 2 feet when Bam the fairing fell onto my fender and onto the ground. By saving 15 seconds of time I now have a marr on my fairing which can be rubbed out and a dent in the fender (dentless removal for $50-75).
Moral: Take your time with no cost free shortcuts.
i feel your pain! i was setting my eg on a bike stand from the shift side instead of the cam side. didnt want to move bike for more room. turned away and bike fell into my benches ruining a custom red laquaer piant work with silver ghost flames not yet 1 week old!! dug a gouge 8 inches long and cracking the fairing. never take shorcuts!

with a towel to protect them we all learn from our mistakes i have done alot worse
good luck and safe riding
Been there before. The one \\;time I didn't completely remove the faring, I put a small dent in my fender. Did the paintless dent repair \\;and you can't even tell........ expensive lesson
