Default Is my radio working correctly

On my 08 SG when I turn the radio up, it reaches max volume when the indicator bars reach the middle of their travel limit. However i can get additional volume by holding the volume control in the up position. Obviously i can't go around holding theswitch in the up position all the time, although i do when i want to hear something in particular. I'm wondering if this is normal or could my radio be defective. At 60/65 mph I can hear fairly well. ASt 70/75 forget it, unless I hold the control up. Opinions?

You might try reloading the software on the radio.&nbsp\\; You can get the download at http://www.harley-davidson.com/cp/mo...mLo&nbsp\\;and burn it onto a CD.&nbsp\\; Instructions are also on the same website.&nbsp\\;

Yeah, it's pretty much normal.&nbsp\\; Anything beyond halfway on the bars is a waste of time because the volume doesn't really increase any more.&nbsp\\;

I have the same problem. I'm looking to add the Harley amp and see how that works. My Dad did it with his '06 and made a big difference.

Mine does the same. Its to do with the speed sensitive volume increase, which automatically boosts the volume as you speed up. Even though the volume level indicates 1/2 way, that would be when stopped. At 60mph (thereabouts), you're at maximum boost.

My 08 Street Glide pretty much does the same thing.
Doesn't get any louder, with the 2nd half bars.

and I know about the "speed sensitive volume control" feature.

Hey folks, I believe you can&nbsp\\;adjust the volume control to BLAST you after half-way at a stand still.&nbsp\\; I adjusted a bunch of stuff the day I bought it about a year ago, but I think the adjustment is in the volume control part.&nbsp\\; Go past the bass and treble parts.&nbsp\\; When I get my radio past half it really cranks.&nbsp\\; Can't keep it there long - maybe one tune.&nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;It's just too damn loud!&nbsp\\; If I didn't make it that way by adjusting the volume and possibly the speed sensor control part, I'll be danged if I can figure out why you guys don't get bars or increased volume past half-way.&nbsp\\; Play with the controls and let me know.
