HID flickering after two years

HID flickering after two years
I have an '06 Ultra, that I have had an HID headlight on for two years. \\; I have never had a problem with it. \\; Yesterday, I went to start my bike, and when I turned the ignition on, the HID bulb was flickering very fast, and there was a corresponding high pitched noise coming from the ballast. \\; When I unplugged the wire from the ballast to the bulb, the noise stopped (and the bulb didn't flicker.) \\; Has anyone had this problem before? \\; Is it a safe bet that the ballast is going bad, or could there be another problem? \\; I've called several HD dealerships service depts, and no one has heard of this problem. \\; THey say they have no way to diagnose the ballast, but if I want them to try, bring my wallet. \\; Help, please.
THanks, Terry

How old is your bike battery? Have you cleaned the contacts to the HID bulb ckt as the link above states? \\; Changing the HID power ckt to a manual power switch so as your only turning on the head lamp after the engine has the ignition on and the engine has started and the alternator is then powering up the charge ckt to send full power to the battery.
 \\;
Even doing these suggestions and problem remains, its still a flip of the coin if its the ballast or the bulb.

Try putting a relay and put in a manual switch. run a direct wire from battery to fuse to relay to ballast. Use a micro switch and turn on the light only after the motor is running and charging. If there is no change than check/change your light bulb. they should cost around $20 if it is just a single or $40 if it is a Bi-xenon (hi/Lo). Hope this helps as I really doubt that the ballast is bad.

My experience...
My Kuryaken/Xsighting Lighting headlight did the exact same thing (flickering in time with the cylinders) about six months after I installed it. Did it for a few days before before it finally just flickered out completely. Wiring looked okay, but the ballast wasn't working. Had to send it back for a new one.
